Winexpert Private Reserve Odyssey Shiraz: Simply Epic

This is the news many of you have been waiting for since Eclipse Barossa Valley Shiraz was discontinued during Winexpert’s wine portfolio overhaul last year. An ultra-premium Shiraz (with grape skins) sourced from Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley and Riverland regions is set to return to Just Fine Wine this August!

Odyssey is a classic wine with an epic journey. A masterful blend of iconic Australian Shiraz from two renowned regions, enhanced with three types of wood to deliver one epic wine.  The three different types of wood are expertly managed to accent the varietal’s ripe dark fruit flavours, enriching the wine, not overpowering it. Odyssey is rich, full-bodied with luscious blackberry and plum layered with chocolate, vanilla and sweet spice, culminating in a warm lengthy finish.

Ready in only 9 weeks and producing 23L (approximately thirty 750ml bottles) of finished wine, Winexpert Private Reserve Odyssey Shiraz is priced at $225 On-Premise or $170 Kit-Only. Available only while quantities last beginning August 11th. Contact Just Fine Wine today to reserve yours.

For an additional fee, oak barrel aging is available for this wine on a first come, first served basis.

The Region: Barossa Valley & Riverland District, Australia. Shiraz thrives in Australia’s warm climate and is the country’s most celebrated and most planted variety. Odyssey blends Shiraz from the Riverland and Barossa Valley regions. The Riverland’s long sunny days fully ripen grapes, producing deliciously fruity wines with generous dark berry and plum aromas and flavours. Barossa is home to some of the world’s oldest Shiraz vines and is known for highly concentrated fruit, packed with black fruit flavours and ripe tannin.

The Wine: Simply epic. Riverland Shiraz is pre-oaked with French oak for a subtle infusion of vanilla, maple, and sweet spice. Barossa Shiraz is blended in to amplify ripe black fruit, dark chocolate, and licorice flavours. A mix of American and French oak during fermentation further refines notes of spice and vanilla and lends silky tannin. Last but not least, Hungarian Acacia enhances texture and body. The result is a bold, rich, full-bodied wine with luscious blackberry and plum flavours layered with chocolate, vanilla and sweet spice, culminating in a warm lengthy finish.
