    The uniquely Italian version of the well known Pinot Gris grape, picked earlier in Italy than in all other regions and well before its characteristic loss of acidity at ripening, for a bright, crisp, dry white wine with a gentle perfume and a detectable spiciness. Fresh, fragrant and lively, its flavours include a certain flintiness with hints of green apple, lemon zest.

    The Italians have their own way with the Pinot Gris grape variety, and in the process they create a special magic with it that’s unmatched elsewhere in the wine world. Though dry in character and with a pleasant zip of acidity, this Pinot Grigio shows off a pleasant floral fragrance and tremendous fruit flavours of green apple, lemon and lime, making it the perfect picnic accompaniment.

  • Pecorino Pinot Grigio – Abbruzzo & Veneto, Italy

    LE19

    Ready in 6 weeks

    AVAILABLE JANUARY 2020 || PRE-ORDER BY NOVEMBER 16, 2019

    Pinot Grigio was originally established as Pinot Gris in Burgundy and although most famous in Alsace, France, made its way to Switzerland in the 1300s and eventually to Northern Italy where Pinot Grigio was born. Today it is Italy’s most popular grape. Pecorino has a bit of a different history; thought to be extinct in the mid 20th century, it was rediscovered in the 1980s by a local producer who then took cuttings and propagated them resulting in this grape’s resurgence. Blending Pinot Grigio, the most popular Italian white wine grape, with the lesser known Pecorino grape results in a delicate white wine with high acidity, lemon, lime, and honeysuckle flavours, and an elegant floral aroma. Pair with steamed mussels, seafood risotto, and vegetarian spring rolls.
